Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team access locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Planners parties.

Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
